Skyve Elementary Bistro opened by the people behind Table 66. (“Skyve” is Singlish for “lazing around”)

Gone are the starched white tablecloths and more elaborate culinary creations at Table 66. In place is an all-day dining concept with an emphasis on breakfast food like Ricotta Hot Cakes ($12) smeared with passionfruit butter and maple syrup. Chef Vincent Teng’s favourite technique of cooking is still evident in the Sous Vide Spring Chicken ($32) and Sous Vide Egg Benedict ($18).

Black lattice dividers, rocking chairs and playful touches inspired by classroom settings (read: a leather bound menu resembling a thesis and place mats depicting flow charts) were conceptualised by Farm, a cross disciplinary design practice. But nothing screams ‘School’s out’ more than retro comfy couches and a breezy atmosphere that permeates the airy space. With a laid back ambience like this, who needs a holiday?
