KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH)

KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) is the only integrated women's and children's hospital in Singapore. It has 150 years of experience in caring for women and children. It also Known affectionately as ‘KK’, this institution has seen to the birth of more than a third of the island’s population, one of whom was Asia’s first test-tube baby, delivered in 1983. Today, it serves a pediatrics function as well, and is responsible for teaching future doctors and nurses specializing in health care for women, children and babies.

It is first hospital in Singapore to offer a permanent sterilization approach without incisions, called Essure pbc. The Cleft and Craniofacial Centre of KKH is also the first of such integrated centers in Southeast Asia and provides complete cover for all elective and emergency surgery in children from birth to 16 years of age.

KKH has gained accreditation from the US-based Joint Commission International (JCI) in 2005, which affirmed the quality of our patient care and safety, also achieved first hospital in Asia Pacific to receive the prestigious Asian Hospital Management Award (AHMA). KKH Hot accreditation from Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynecology (UK), Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), Royal Australian-New Zealand College of Obstetrics & Gynecology (RANZCOG).

A case study of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS); an unknown contagious infection in Singapore KK Women's and Children's Hospital were set up a task-force keeping abreast of new developments and developing up-to-date policies can effectively stem the spread of the disease. Compliance monitoring and reinforcement are also needed for maximal effectiveness. As one of Southeast Asia's largest children's cancer centre, the Children's Cancer Centre at KKH treats 70% of childhood cancers in Singapore. The Centre is also equipped with pheresis facilities to support stem cell transplant in cancer treatment.
