As technology and intelligence advances over the years, certain data links will become obsolete and is no longer fully functional in today’s battlespace environment. MoD is constantly researching and developing higher TDL capabilities to enhance network and mission management in an operation.

Tactical Data Link (TDL) has been the key to provide integrated information networks and applications, to facilitate situational awareness and real-time information exchange across different combat environment. TDL was developed from difficulties in using voice communications and has largely replaced the need for voice, as it is more accurate, resistant to ECM and high-speed.
