The requirements and demand of warfighters in combat environment change with the nature of war. In order to provide efficient support and operational readiness, ministries are constantly developing new capabilities through acquisitions, at the same time growing new capabilities through system of systems (SoS) approach.

A SoS engineering (SoSE) model has to be flexible and adaptable to respond to new threats and incorporate the rapidly changing military technology systems. Due to this situation, the complexity of SoSE increased dramatically, resulting in new challenges not just from architectural perspective, but also networks and integration issues. As the concept of SoSE reflects an integration of multiple collaborative, autonomous, yet interacting systems, there is a need for a coordinated effort across various stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of SoS.

This SoSE course aims to address the management and engineering issues that militaries often face in the running of SoS. Discussion during training course include SoSE development processes, along with the strict requirements and criterias. Topics on mapping models of systems inter-relations and tools to identify failing/weak links will be addressed as well.
