After World War II the usage of radar has increased rapidly, from surveillance, reconnaissance, target tracking and other civilian uses. Radar also plays an important role in combat systems specially in its usage to strengthen national defence in anticipation of any foreign interference.

The increasing use of radar prompted the defence community to allocate resources for its technology upgrading and development. However, the speed at which radar technology and its applications is evolving, makes it challenging for the militaries to keep abreast of the developments and keeping radar performance at its optimum.
