Fig 3: 2008 SIFE World CupGLOBAL non-profit organisation Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) will hold the SIFE World Cup 2008 at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre on Oct 1-3 this year.
The competition is expected to bring together top national SIFE teams from over 40 countries. The teams have developed community and educational outreach projects that teach entrepreneurship, market economics, business ethics and finance - to make a difference to the lives of others. They will present and pitch the results of their outreach projects against one another for the world title.

The annual competition has previously been held in London, Amsterdam, Mainz, Barcelona, Toronto, Paris, and New York City.

Every country that operates a SIFE national organization is eligible to send a national champion team to the SIFE World Cup.Through a written annual report and live audio visual presentation, teams will be evaluated based on how Fig 4: 2008 SIFE World Cupsuccessful they were at creating economic opportunity for others.

Competing teams are divided among eight opening round leagues, each with approximately six teams. From the opening round of competition, two teams from each league advance to the semi-final round with four teams winning a spot in the final round of competition. Eventually one team will be declared the best among the more than 1,400 active SIFE teams and earn the title of SIFE World Cup Champion.

The SIFE World Cup is a showcase of the impact that SIFE teams are achieving around the world and brings together an international network of student, academic and business leaders. In addition to the competition, events such as the culture fair provides an exhibit of the rich diversity of cultures represented within SIFE. Multiple receptions, lunches and dinners, along with special events such as the CEO roundtable and Top to Future-Top Forums further enhance the opportunities for participants to connect, collaborate and learn from one another.
