As in any city, Singapore has a small number of establishments whose practices tarnish the good image of reputable establishments. Be vigilant when approached with offers of free gifts or special discounts.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) takes a very serious view of all malpractices. Tourists can be assured that all complaints will be thoroughly investigated and the necessary action will be taken against any establishment with bad practices.

Complaints can be lodged with the STB by calling the Hotline at 1800-736 3366 (toll-free in Singapore). If you wish to receive some form of redress within 24 hours (depending on the complexity of the claim), you can also lodge your complaint directly with the Small Claims Tribunals (SCT) at: 1 Havelock Square, 1st level Subordinate Courts, Singapore 059724 . An administrative fee of S$10 is payable to the SCT.
