Donated by Mr G.K. Goh in 1996, the Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings is prized as one of the 11 national treasures of the Museum. The painting of these drawings was commissioned by William Farquhar (1774-1839), the first Resident and Commandant of Singapore during his stay in Melaka. The Farquhar Collection is one of the earliest and most comprehensive records of the flora and fauna of the region. |
